About Micaela Schmitz and Early Music in the Vale

Early Music in the Vale began in 2001 with some early music ‘jam sessions’ which were organised by Dr. Micaela Schmitz to bring together early music enthusiasts in the Vale of Evesham. Those in the Vale know that we have to do a lot of travelling to get to gatherings of early musicians, so there’s a real need here!

Dr. Schmitz offered teaching also at the University of Birmingham’s Lifelong Learning Centre in 2002-3 and became more aware of the need for education at all levels. Since then she has done workshops on Renaissance dance and music in Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire schools, and hopes to include Birmingham and Staffordshire. She runs a studio at her home, but is often in her car travelling to give workshops.

As a Professional workshop leader, Micaela offers some set workshops as well as bespoke ones. Please click here for a leaflet. Please note the prices are good for 2007-8.
